Day Four: Fasting Update – Sometimes when fasting, we get a little more tired than on other days. Usually after day three or four, however, our physical energy is renewed and we begin feeling lighter and more revitalized.
Do you ever need supernatural power? How about a supernatural, inexhaustible supply of power? In Philippians 1:19, Paul wrote, "For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ."
Notice the word "supply" in this verse. It is actually the Greek word epichoregeo, which seems like a strange word for Paul to use. It translates to "on behalf of the choir" - and yes, there's an unusual story behind that!
In Ancient Greece, a large choral and dramatic company worked tirelessly on a huge production, but shortly before their opening performance, they ran out of money. They had committed their lives and everything they had to this, so it was a disastrous situation for many of them--the end of their dreams.
On Behalf of the Choir
UNTIL! A wealthy man came forward and made a tremendous financial investment over and above what they needed. He gave this huge amount of money on behalf of the choir. This amount "supplied" all of their need, and indeed was beyond what they could even spend! His contribution was excessively abundant, overflowing and overwhelming to the people.
This is where the word "supply" comes from in Philippians 1:19 -- THAT is the tremendous contribution of the Holy Spirit that Jesus wants you and me to have--direct from Him!
So, if you're feeling a bit lacking in strength -- physical, emotional, mental, will -- know there is an inexhaustible SUPPLY of the Holy Spirit available to you. Just lift your hands, open your heart and receive it from the Lord right now. Allow Him to fill you to overflowing with His power, with His JOY and His abundant strength. There is SO MUCH available to you. We could never use it all!
Join the Chorus! Shout it Out!
Let's declare by faith, "I am filled to overflowing with a rich supply of God's grace, strength and joy. I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me!"
