DAY 21 – “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
Praise the Lord! We have completed our 21 days of fasting together.
A wonderful realization: you will continue to receive benefits from your time of fasting in the weeks and months to come. Something you prayed during this fast will be answered in August or September–or next week. A tremendous deliverance for your family will be evident as a result of something you prayed through the other day. In other words, you will receive future blessings as a result of your last three weeks of fasting. Isn't that amazing?
Prayer and Fasting Births Revival and Reformation
Enjoy the quick video below. It's stirring!
Revival in Scotland–I learned from our friend Pastor Jentezen Franklin that the revival that swept the Hebrides in Scotland from 1949-1952 was often credited to evangelist Duncan Campbell's preaching.
However, he was quick to give credit to two elderly ladies who had a burden for the people of their town, especially the young people who ignored anything to do with God.
The two women received a vision from God and shared it with some of the young ministers there, encouraging them to join in prayer at least two nights a week.
After three weeks, one of the ministers became convicted in his own heart that God would not use men without “clean hands a a pure heart” (Psalm 24:4) to reach others.
As the men in that prayer meeting repented and cried out to God, His Spirit swept the entire town with mighty conviction.
A Spirit-born revival shook that area for the next three years, and nearly everyone on the island was born again, young and old, most before they even reached the church building!
Bill Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ (now known as Cru), was a man who understood the power of fasting and prayer. He wrote about a personal conviction to fast that hit him in the early 1990s:
“In the spring and summer of 1994, I had a growing conviction that God wanted me to fast and pray for forty days for revival in America and for the fulfillment of the Great Commission in obedience to our Lord's command.
“At first I questioned, “Is this truly God's call for me?” Forty days was a long time to go without solid food. But with each passing day, His call grew stronger and more clear. Finally, I was convinced. God was calling me to fast, and He would not make such a call without a specific reason or purpose. With this conviction, I entered my fast with excitement and expectancy mounting in my heart, praying, “Lord, what do you want me to do?”
“I believe such a long fast was a sovereign call of God because of the magnitude of the sins of America and of the Church. The Lord impressed that upon my heart, as well as the urgent need to help accelerate the fulfillment of the Great Commission in this generation.
“As I began my fast, I was not sure I could continue for forty days. But my confidence was in the Lord to help me. Each day His presence encouraged me to continue. The longer I fasted, the more I sensed the presence of the Lord. The Holy Spirit refreshed my soul and spirit, and I experienced the joy of the Lord as seldom before. Biblical truths leaped at me from the pages of God's Word. My faith soared as I humbled myself and cried out to God and rejoiced in His presence.
“This proved to be the most important forty days of my life. As I waited upon the Lord, the Holy Spirit gave me the assurance that America and much of the world will, before the end of the year 2000, experience a great spiritual awakening.” — Bill Bright
There is MORE!
Pastor Jentezen goes on to say that American did in fact experience a great wave of awakening, revival and evangelism during the 1990s–perhaps you were a part of it! And there is more the Lord wants to do–so much more! Do you want to be a part of it?
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
When we, as Ambassadors for Christ, really take hold of prayer, fasting and intercession not only as a once-in-a-while or once-a-year (or once-in-a-lifetime) event, but as a regular, normal part of our relationship with the Lord and this world, we will see miracles take place and the REFORMATION that desperately needs to happen before Christ's return.
What are some of the benefits you have noticed?
Here’s what some have noticed:
– closer relationship with God
– answered prayers – and quickly!
– addictions, bad habits and bondages broken
– divine revelations has been flowing
– hearing God’s voice more clearly
– improved health and energy
– food less important than it was before
– amazing opportunities and favor granted
– increased prosperity
– divine guidance
– divine appointments with amazing people
I have news for you. It NEVER has to stop! Continue to feed on the Word every day. The great evangelist of the last century, Smith Wigglesworth once said, “All lack of faith is due to not feeding on God’s Word.”
Physically Speaking
Come off the fast slowly (sounds like a play on words, doesn't it?). Tomorrow is not the day to “pig out” for goodness’ sake! Let us exercise the fruit of the Holy Spirit – the fruit of Self-Control. Start adding foods back in slowly–foods you have been off the last 3 weeks.
Stay off some food you know are “triggers” to addictive behavior for you. Things like sugar, caffeine, processed foods, high fructose corn syrup, “junk” food, etc. And some behaviors you know God has delivered you from (anger, self-pity, jealousy, greed, gossiping, guilt, regret, etc.). He who the Son sets free is FREE indeed!!!
Lastly, I’d like to share with you a word I received in prayer at the end of a 21-day fast we did last year. I pray this for you, too — that you will DARE TO BELIEVE:
“Dare to believe! Live so far out into the realm of faith that you will FAIL — horribly — if God doesn’t catch you and take you the rest of the way. This way, He gets ALL the glory!” Amen. You will not fail because “With God ALL things are possible!” (Matthew 19:26).
Thank you for sharing your precious journey with Jesus with me, too! I am grateful for you. With Love, Laurette

I am so much closer to God and my food addictions have truly decreased and I choose healthier foods. I have also learnt to forgive quickly those who have hurt me or violated my rights and praying for them as well- not easy- but the peace and love of Christ is over all that’s negative. Jesus be praised!
Beautiful, Stephanie. You give so much to others – I know the Lord is filling you up, sustaining you and making you more than a conqueror in every battle. He is faithful. Thank you so much for commenting and sharing your heart. Yes, Jesus be praised!!!
Today is the last day of my 21days fasting and prayers. Thanks so much for this guide,i followed it on daily basis and have been really blessed.God have blessed me so much within this 3weeks.I hear Him very clearly and I’m grateful for grace He gave me to obey the instructions and tasks He gave me within the 3weeks of fasting and prayers.Im happily waiting for the manifestations of all His promises and blessings.God is real! Shallom.
Dear Laurette, Thank you so much for these daily meditations for the last 21 days that encouraged us all along the way. I am grateful to God for His Word and His bountiful blessings every step of the way, each and every day. The Lord truly opens His hands and satisfies the desire of every living thing. (Psalm 145:16) May the Lord bless & keep you always in His care.
Thank you, MaryAnn – it has been a time of personal growth – and amazement at how beautifully the Lord works in our lives. Such a small thing fasting is–in comparison to the benefits and rich rewards He gives us. As if all we have to do is take one small step – and He rushes in with His love and grace. So grateful – and so grateful for you, too! I love that – “The Lord truly opens His hands and satisfies the desire of every living thing” (Psalm 145:16).
Perfect.
thank you, Laurette! I am closer to God these days. I have had such a break from too much sugar. I have seen my son change–listens when encouraged toward Father and not abrasive! I have seen my hunger for God increase.
I have a question. Can we still access the 21 devotions. They have helped me SO MUCH to change my thinking by the Holy Spirit’s moving in my heart, BUT I AM NOT FINISHED YET WITH ALL OF THEM. I hope that I will be able to do the rest of them….that I will be able to access them.
Thanks for all the prayers.
That’s wonderful, Carol – glory to God.
Yes, all the links to each day are listed above. They’ll remain there for you.
Thank you for sharing!
Hello there. I have been blessed to b a part of this 21 day corporate fast! I have been praying about how to supplement and eventually replace my current income. I was planning on beginning the PraiseMoves training online, this February, however, during the fast, I feel that the Lord would have me postpone taking the class until May. I am instead to complete the first assignment which the Lord gave me to focus on my relationship with Him, my family and the music ministry with which I have been blessed. I feel the Lord is saying…Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things (the things that I enjoy like PraiseMoves, Nutrition, helping people, etc.) will be added unto you. I am taking the next few months to begin to lay a foundation for the Music Ministry and asking God to open the doors as I prepare to minister for Him. Please pray that I will have wisdom as I take steps to accomplish His will. The sooner, I get things in place for that, the sooner, I will be a PraiseMoves Instructor, as well. 🙂
God Bless you Laurette, and all of the PraiseMoves family!
Absolutely, Michelle! Seeking Him first (Matthew 6:33) is always best–and all the things the Lord would have you do and have will be added unto you at the perfect time.
We love you and are grateful for you – thank you for sharing your good report with us!
Thank you, Laurette, for these beautiful daily devotionals! So clearly blessed words spoken to your heart by the Father…thank you so much for sharing them. I was struck by the “revival and evangelism during the 1990s”. Oh praise God, I was one of the them! My spiritual birthday was October 1994. I had no idea I was part of a “revival”. I just know my neighbor had invited me to a mom’s day out at her church each Thursday and with two boys under three, I needed a day out!!! I had no idea that she was leading right into a life changing relationship with Jesus! I’m looking forward to joining the PraiseMoves team through online training in May!!! Much love to you my Christian sister!
Oh, wow, Denise! That is powerful to realize that, isn’t it? The simple act of your neighbor inviting you a “mom’s day out,” our inviting a friend to church, a man named Bill Bright moved on by God to fast and pray – and being obedient to His call even when it wasn’t convenient or comfortable to his flesh – and LOOK at the fruit!
I believe we will continue to see and experience answered prayers and fruit in our lives and the lives of those for whom we’ve prayed as a result of this fast.
Dear Father in Heaven – may there be a GREAT REVIVAL and REFORMATION in our land – in the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia, South America, Africa and all the islands of the sea! In Jesus’ name – amen!
Dear Laurette,
a note from the U.K. Thank you for the links, they were encouraging and entertaining!
My husband chose to fast with me – not for 21 days, we did a week. We bought the Jentzen Franklin book, and also ‘Prayers that Rout Demons’ by John Eckhardt, which is a powerful little book full of prayers taken from scripture. We spent time praying together instead of having meals and, using the Ekhardt book, truly routed some strongholds and were able to hear the Lord clearly on a number of issues.
We plan a 3 day fast once a month from a Friday to Sunday through the year and a longer fast, which we do most years, nearer to Easter God willing.
The PraiseMoves class I ran last week was translated from English to Romanian as I had two Romanian girls in it, one whom had no English understanding. I did shorten – or skip some scriptures, to keep to usual time – and used lots of body language to teach postures! It worked though, and has encouraged me to develop an idea to take classes to Romania where our church has a ministry to the gypsy people.
Thank you again, and blessings to all CPI’s, it is so encouraging knowing you are all out there. Pray for more people to train here in the U.K! Heidi x
That’s wonderful, Heidi – great breakthroughs!
