21 Days of Fasting - Whatever You Do Will Prosper

DAY SIXTEEN: “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalm 1:3).

Years ago before my husband came to the Lord, a friend of his used to pray the words of Psalm 1 over him every day during his private prayer time. “I thank You, Lord, that Paul is blessed. He walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but Paul’s delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law Paul meditates day and night…”

There is power in praying the Word of God over ourselves and our loved ones. Within a few months of his friend praying for Paul, he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. We know several people were praying for Paul, including me!

Demonstrating that no one can take credit for someone’s salvation, Paul the apostle wrote, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6-7).

You can pray and speak aloud Psalm 1 over yourself and loved ones. We all want to bring forth “fruit” in our lives and continue to have a positive influence in the world around us.

Speaking Perversely?

Our reading from Proverbs 15 shows us that a person who speaks words of wisdom and healing has a tongue that is “a tree of life” and the King James version admonishes us that “but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit” (Proverbs 15:4).

When we speak perversely, or contrary to the Word of God, we create a rupture in the spirit! This is why we’re told that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). Notice that death is mentioned first!

Let’s take advantage of the power in our words by speaking words of life! Please declare aloud over yourself and loved ones: “I thank You, Lord, that my tongue is a tree of life. I speak words of life and health and plenty. I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season. My ‘leaf’ also shall not wither; and whatever I do will prosper!
