Angels Heed THE VOICE of His Word

angel Here's one of my favorite psalms.
Speaking the first five verses aloud will bless, bless, bless you — because you are bless-bless-blessing the Lord!

Psalm 103:1-5, 11-12, 20 (Track 7: “Clouds of Peace”)

Listen to the Beautiful Music and WORD from “Soaking in the Psalms”

Soaking in the Psalms Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

11 For as the heavens are high above the earth,
So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him;
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He removed our transgressions from us.

20 Bless the Lord, you His angels,
Who excel in strength, who do His word,
Heeding the voice of His word.

Points to Ponder (Day 27 “Soaking in the Psalms” 40-day Devotional & CD)

A Satisfied Mouth

EagleI don't know how many times I've said Psalm 103, verses 1-5 aloud. It is so important to make these truths our own and get them deep down on the inside of us.

We can look at verse 5 several different ways.

In a physical sense, our youth and youthful energy are renewed by the good food the Lord has provided for us to eat.

Alternately, we see the Hebrew word “tov” again for “good,” and that points to that which is beneficial, pleasing, favorable, lovely, as well as morally right.

You may notice in your Bible that the words “things” and “that” in verse 5 are italicized, so the actual wording is:

Who satisfies your mouth with good,
So your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Seeing the word “satisfies” here reminds me of yesterday's study of Psalm 91. We can look to the Lord for L-O-N-G life because of the promise of the last verse of Psalm 91:

“With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Bless God, you don't have to leave this earth until you are satisfied! I don't think I'll be fully satisfied until I do ALL the Lord has called me to do. How 'bout you?

God's Word is GOOD. The Lord satisfies your mouth with the goodness of His Word to speak and declare His will be done on earth, within your sphere of influence and elsewhere, as it is declared done in heaven.

Angels Heed the Voice of His Word

angelAngels “do His word” by “heeding the voice of His word.”

What is “the voice of His word”?
God's voice in heaven?
Well, God's will is already done in heaven.

God's voice on earth?
We don't really get to hear God's voice thundering here on earth in the natural. We do hear His “still, small voice” in our heart.

How do angels hear “the voice of His word”?

I believe they hear the voice of His word through us speaking His Word in faith. Notice the scripture does not say “heeding His voice.” It says “heeding THE VOICE of His word.”

Does God's Word have a VOICE?

God's Word has a voice when you speak it.
How else will angels hear and heed it?

The writer of Hebrews, under the influence of the Holy Spirit writes of angels:

“Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Heb. 1:14).

Angels minister FOR us, and “do His word, heeding the voice of His word.”

A Practical Example

trafficHere's what I customarily say when I get into my car, or shortly thereafter as I'm driving. I think you'll recognize portions of Psalm 91 in this declaration:

“I thank You, Lord, that the Blood of Jesus covers me, and that You have given Your angels charge over me to keep me safe in all my ways. They lift me up in their hands, lest I dash my foot against a stone.

“I thank You, Lord that all parts of my vehicle work excellently well and everyone around me is an excellently good driver.

“I thank You, Lord, that all animals, vehicles, people, flying and stationary objects stay at least 20 feet away from me as I travel. I will get to my destination quickly, safely and easily and come home rejoicing–in Jesus' name. Amen.”

That may sound a bit silly to some, but I know that angels have hearkened to and heeded “the Voice of His Word” in these prayers. The more I have said these words over the years (not as “vain repetition,” but gratefully and with boldness), the more my faith has grown, and the more miracles I have seen as a result.

I ask the the angels to go with my husband and keep him safe when he drives to town. I speak the precious Blood of Jesus over him, and thank the Lord for favor, safety and wisdom.

book and cdThere's a line from a song I'll close with today:

“If God's got it, you can have it through faith in His Word.”  What do YOU want that God's got?

He satisfies your mouth with good — and has given His angels instructions to heed the VOICE of His GOOD Word.

Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

You bless the Lord when you believe Him,
and take Him at His Word.
