Day Seven: Fasting Update – “Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil” (Matthew 4:1).
When Jesus was baptized by John in the River Jordan, He was immediately led into the wilderness.
In Mark 1:12, He was driven into the wilderness. “Immediately the spirit drove Him into the wilderness.”
He was both led and driven to an encounter with the Holy Spirit. He fasted for 40 days, after which the Bible says Jesus began to perform miracles.
Covet the Best Gifts and Open Your Mouth
“But earnestly desire (“covet” in KJV) the best gifts” (1 Corinthians 12:31).
Do you hunger to be used of God to do mighty exploits as in Bible days? Do you want to see the lame walk and the blind see? Do you want to see the (spiritually and physically) dead raised and see such an outpouring of God's power that people come up to you and want to know what they must do to be saved?
It is not a pipe dream. It's happened before. It will happen again.
During the next few days of your fast, I encourage you to ask the Lord to use you in a NEW way. I challenge you to step out of what's comfortable and ask the Lord to give you an opportunity to share Him with others in a new and BOLD way.
“I am the LORD your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt; open your mouth wide, and I will fill it,” He promises in Psalm 81:10. You have to open your mouth first–BEFORE He can fill it. Will you ask Him, and then when the opportunity is given, step out in faith, trusting Him to give you what you need at the moment?
