Daniel Fast - Day Six - Standing on the Edge of the Tub

Day Six: Fasting Update – “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15).

Most of us find that our bodies are openly rebellious to the desires of the Spirit. “I want MY way — and I want it NOW!!!” our flesh screams.

Jesus is the one who said, “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). He was speaking about us.

Fasting helps put the flesh under and builds patience and self-control, some of the fruit of the Holy Spirit within us.

Yeah, but Would You Stand on the Edge of Your TUB?

Imagine if you followed Christ in all that you say and do. How different would your life be? If you're like me, you get distracted or sleepy just before you go to your “secret place” to have some prayer and quiet time with the Lord. Here's what one man did…

I remember the story of a preacher who was so determined to invest time with the Lord every morning before he went to work, but he kept falling back to sleep. One day he got the idea to read his bible standing on the edge of his tub. You can believe he learned to stay awake when reading his bible!

What are you willing to do to *stay awake* physically as well as mentally and spiritually to be able to hear what the Lord has to say to you?
