Session SIX, Part 2

NolaJeanne Baird, Master CPI Trainer & Coordinator, and Eagle Award recipient has been teaching PraiseMoves classes since she was certified in September 2005. In the video below, she demonstrates a portion of Walkin' Wisdom Warm-ups.

Please forgive the video challenges. It smooths out after about 90 seconds.

I strongly suggest you get PraiseMoves Gold in the CPI Store, featuring NolaJeanne and her students. Each workout is 45 minutes in length–seated, standing with chair, and floor workouts. The testimonies from these workouts with NolaJeanne have been phenomenal, to say the least–and all the glory goes to the Lord.

If you want to know more about modifications for postures, you'll find plenty to choose from in PraiseMoves Gold. You may not have senior adult students, but you will come across times when you will need modifications for students with physical challenges, who are in recovery, or who are obese (Karen in the video and your manual at 40 years young dropped over 70 lbs. in NolaJeanne's class, and plans to lose more weight. She will give your overweight students a lot of hope!).

If you would like to get your PraiseMoves Gold Certification, learn more here: http://praisemoves.com/about-us/instructor-training/mira-and-praisemoves-gold-cert/

PraiseMoves Gold certification is available, as are other certifications you can use to enhance your classes and ministry at https://laurette.lpages.co/additional-certifications/

Get PraiseMoves Gold for yourself.

You can get PraiseMoves Gold immediately, downloadable or streaming at http://praisemoves.com/shop

At 76, NolaJeanne is living proof that PraiseMoves helps keep you young.

The Lord “satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's” (Psalm 103:5)! She has taught PraiseMoves to people of all ages at churches, a retirement center (where her oldest student was a 97-year-old man!), a Christian School (where she taught PraiseMoves to teens, tweens, even young children), a fitness center, and Sunday school–also as part of Praise & Worship! Tell me what part of your life the Lord and His Word do not want to take first place?!

“PraiseMoves has kept me flexible and I no longer experience symptoms of osteoarthritis.” ~ NolaJeanne

GET UP AND DO SOME WWW WITH NOLAJEANNE!   : )

TURN YOUR VOLUME UP, PLEASE.

Session SIX, Part 3

Remember (You WILL need to know this for the Final Exam):

YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO KNOW the 3-Point Method in teaching a Scripture Sequence:

  • 1. Teach the postures that are in the Scripture Sequence during your workout (include each posture's accompanying scripture and reference).
  • 2. Do the postures as a flow-through without the Scripture (cue the PraiseMoves posture name as you do the posture).
  • 3. Do the postures with the verses in the Scripture Sequence (cue the PraiseMoves posture name and the verse lines as you do them).

NolaJeanne first taught all of the postures in the Scripture Sequence (not on the video below).

What you will see in the Video below: Later in her class, AFTER having taught ALL of the postures in this Scripture Sequence, NolaJeanne now guides her students through what she calls a “Healing Scripture Affirmation” based on Isaiah 53:4-5.

Listen to how she cues her students to repeat the Word after her (and they love it!).

Please forgive the challenges with sound and synchronizing video/audio, so just overlook that sometimes it seems as if Nola is a ventriloquist. Go ahead and DO THE WORKOUT with NolaJeanne! Enjoy!

Notice what great balance NolaJeanne has when she does The Branch and The Tree — and see her great love of teaching. See why we love NolaJeanne so very much?!!!

One of the things we refer to in our interview is the PowerMoves Kids Character Education program. Dr. Laurette developed the PowerMoves Kids curriculum for PK-8th grades as a way to bring Judeo-Christian principles into public school classrooms (as well as private and Christian schools, of course). Able to be taught by any classroom teacher (as well as CPIs, homeschool teachers, and Physical Education instructors),  PowerMoves Kids is the first Character Education program to incorporate Fitness.

PowerMoves Kids has received high marks from educators, universities, and the Department of Education. CPIs are able to purchase the program at a discount in the CPI Store. CPIs also receive a $225 commission when an entire school purchases the curriculum from you (at about 1/10th the cost of many Character Education programs!). See PowerMovesKids.com for more information and a sample of the Curriculum.

Session SIX, Part 5

GO HERE for the Continuation of Today’s training with NolaJeanne Baird.

We re-numbered videos 6 and 7, so ignore it if they may say 7 & 8 on the video. You are looking at the correct video.

Today NolaJeanne will focus on HOW and WHY we do the WWJD R&R (What-Would-Jesus-Do Rest & Relaxation) with your students.

GO TO:  http://miradance.weebly.com/cpi3.html

Homework Assignment:

1. Study these 3 postures: The Prayer Warrior (1, 2, 3, and 4), The Tree, and The Refuge.

2. Practice and study pages 94-102. Use some of the VERBAL CUES for these postures. Practice teaching in front of a mirror.

3. Know one-to-two BENEFITS for each posture.

4. Be aware of some of the most important CONTRAINDICATIONS of each posture.

5. Write these 3 postures on Index Cards. Note a few verbal cues to help you remember how to guide your students.

6. Practice repeating the SCRIPTURE VERSES and REFERENCES that go along with each of these postures.

7. Practice your 2-minute WWW and 5 Postures for your video teaching a student. If you have not already submitted your video, you may do so now (see Final Exam info below).

****FINAL EXAM INFO****

CPI Trainees:

1. VIDEO of you teaching your 5 postures to a student must be submitted no later than Friday, Feb. 23.

You cannot be certified if you have no one you are instructing in your video. We need to see how you work with your student. The student must be an adult or teenager since you will be certified to work with adults and/or teenagers.

Your Video will include:
a. Start with Prayer. 2-3 minutes Walkin’ Wisdom Warm-ups (if you have already submitted this, you do not need to do so again)

***Music question? You may use Christian music with words for WWW – but ONLY instrumental Christian music or classical (not New Age, of course!) for Postures. We want people to FOCUS on the Word and your instruction. You will receive PraiseMoves Class Music #1 with your Certificate.

b. Video record yourself teaching ONE student the following five PraiseMoves postures: The Angel, The Reed, The Eagle, The Vine, and The Little Child.

CPI Video example light1) We need to be able to see you and your students. The best way to do this we have found is to situate yourself, your student, and your camera in a V-shape. Your video camera is at the Point of the V. Your student and you are the endpoints of the V, facing one another, but angled slightly toward the camera so we can see BOTH of your faces.

2) Be sure to watch your student.

3) Walk around your student for a time or two to cue the correct form WITHOUT touching your student. You can model the correct form instead.

4) Be sure to SAY the corresponding Scripture and invite your students to REPEAT the scripture after you.

–Practice the 5 PraiseMoves postures AND WHAT YOU SAY for your upcoming video.

5) Mention benefits (I like doing this toward the beginning “This posture is great for…”). Mention contraindications when guiding into a posture (“If your neck is sensitive, look straight ahead instead of up”).

6) Include the “Higher Dimension of Praise” –What do you say? Guide your students into a posture, breathing, Scripture (invite them to repeat after you; add an element of praise in line with the video above, such as “We thank You, Lord, that Your Word says…*scripture*…”

— Don’t be robotic here – be yourself! You’re thankful for God’s Word already–just let some of your thankfulness show. Your students will pick up on your genuineness and it will bless them, letting them know they can enter into praise easily. – This may be done before or after a posture.

You are a Leader and a Minister of the Gospel. Your students will follow you. We are “not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for every who believes” (Romans 1:16).

WATCHING HOW NOLAJEANNE TEACHES WILL BE INVALUABLE FOR YOU. She is one of the very best, and her students love her. See the links below for NJ videos.

Push through your comfort zone and past the fear of doing something new and “un-COMFORT-able” – lean on the Comforter, and be willing to *feel* foolish. It looks good on us, no matter how offended our pride, flesh, and minds may feel (I speak from experience here).

Example from Nola Jeanne Baird, Master CPI Trainer & Coordinator:

Notice that her first few words are the “Higher Dimension of Praise.”

NolaJeanne shares, “For example,  For Mt.Zion, I now say:  Father, we thank You that Your Word says, “those who trust in the Lord are like Mt Zion which cannot be moved but abides forever. Ps 125:1.”‘  See how I prefaced the scripture with a statement of thanksgiving?

“Another example for The Eagle,  I now say:  ‘We Praise You, Lord, for Your word says: “those who wait on the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isa 40:31″ – thank You for Your strength, Lord.'”

Please Note: Upload your video via YouTube.com. Mark the video “UNLISTED.” DO NOT mark it “private” – we cannot open private videos. Send your video to nolajeannepm@gmail.com

2. CLOSED-BOOK Final Exam on Monday, Feb. 27. You have 24 hours from the time it is sent to complete it. The exam itself MUST be submitted online NO LATER than Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 28 (the next day, 1:00 PM Central time). It will be a multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and written test that you will take online.

For CPI Trainees:

1. VIDEO must be submitted no later than the evening of Monday, February 24 (evening your time). Do not wait until the last minute. You will need to have or borrow: a video camera (video camcorder, webcam or smart-phone that takes videos), and one or more people to teach (a family member or friend).

If WWW video was sent separately, you don’t have to have other persons in it — but you DO need to have at least one other person in your PraiseMoves postures video. You will teach this person or persons the PraiseMoves postures (see below).

Your Video will include:
a.  Start with Prayer. 2-3 minutes Walkin’ Wisdom Warm-ups (if you have already submitted this, you do not need to do so again)

b. 5 postures you teach to one or more students.

1) We need to be able to see you and your students. The best way to do this we have found is to situate yourself, student and camera in a V-shape. Your video camera is at the Point of the V. Your student and you are the end points of the V, facing one another, but angled slightly toward the camera so we can see BOTH of your faces.

2) Be sure to watch your students.

3) Walk among them a time or two to cue them and correct their form WITHOUT touching them. You can model the correct form for them instead.

4) Be sure to SAY the corresponding Scripture and invite your students to REPEAT the scripture after you.

–Practice the 5 PraiseMoves postures AND WHAT YOU SAY for your upcoming video. Remember, as we mentioned in Lesson #2, don’t play it easy and just do the first 5 postures from the PraiseMoves DVD. You may use one or two of those, but be adventurous and select any 5 postures from the DVD or Manual.

–What do you say? Guide your students into posture, breathing, Scripture (invite them to repeat after you; add element of praise in line with video above, such as “We thank You, Lord, that Your Word says…*scripture*…” — Don’t be robotic here – be yourself! –Mention benefits (I like doing this toward the beginning “This posture is great for…”). Mention contraindications when guiding into posture (“If your neck is sensitive, look straight ahead instead of up”).

– Incorporate the revelation you received from the video in the last session about the revelation from Galatians 3:5 and Jeremiah 33:11 (“I thank You, Lord that Your Word says…” or “We praise You, Father that…” and then follow with the Scripture). This does not have to be done for each and every posture (let the Holy Spirit guide you). Invite students to repeat after you. Push through your comfort zone and past the fear of doing something new and “un-COMFORT-able” – lean on the Comforter, and be willing to *feel* foolish. It looks good on us, no matter how offended our pride, flesh and minds may be (I speak from experience here). :)

  1. Great lesson tonight!! NolaJeanne has such a sweet spirit about her and I so enjoyed the interview with Susan Pope. Dance ministry is a direction I believe the Lord may be leading me too…even thought I have no background in dance per se..but then again thats how our Lord works!! after watching and listening to all the interviews throughout the different sessions…I really believe the Lord is going to do something way BIGGER through PraiseMoves then my human mind has envisioned!! Glory to God!!

  2. Dear Laurette,

As I am progressing through the training, I continue to be amazed how every part of the training seems to be bathed in God’s Grace.

As I watched NolaJeanne’s videos, I realized what is happening to me as I practice the PraiseMoves postures and scriptures: God is removing the “experience of failure” from my body! Glory to God! Think how many people need this kind of healing!

    God bless you!

    Pat

  3. Nolajeanne is a real inspiration. I love the beauty and grace of movement and obvious balance and strength as she does these PraiseMoves. I’m a sixty something even a little older than Nolajeanne and wouldn’t be doing this if the Lord hadn’t called me to it for His purpose! All things are possible for those who believe! For with God, NOTHING shall be impossible. I also banish senior moments from the exam, LoL!

  4. I felt like I was in NolaJeanne’s class, it was so nice! Susan’s prayer through movement sounds so inspiring. Looking forward, with God’s help, to shine the light for Jesus through PraiseMoves!

  5. Thank God what an encouragement.

Thanks Nola Jeane for the videos and for Susan for inspiring us. I love to work with the elderly as a Nurse in an aged care facility but I also want to minister to the young being a mother of 3 wonderful children. I want to look at the PowerMOves kids…

We are almost at the finish line so we have to press on and finish the race and keep our faith.

    God bless everyone:-)

  6. LOVED NolaJeanne’s video sections!! Oh how I wished to know and have acces to the Healing Affirmation as it would be so vital in the healing ministry that my husband and I are developing! Is there a way to obtain this? She is so invigorating and yet exudes love and grace so beautifully! And I enjoyed Susan’s interview! Love the quote of PraiseMoves is like Bible Study through the body! How true, for each time I practice my postures, I fall in love with God’s beautiful Words more and more!

  7. Nola Jeanne is so graceful and has such a youthful affect. She is an inspiration to show young CPIs what we will be like and that we won’t have to ever stop PraiseMoving.
Susan… I was blessed to meet her in recertification. I sobbed as I heard her tell about how she aligns herself with the Lord every morning. I’m embarrassed to admit that I say the quickest of prayers as I jet out the doors in the morning and my only priority was making sure I had my coffee and my son’s lunch was packed. I will try to align myself with His preciousness more. I loved how she said prayer is a 2 way street. I so often tell God all my desires and needs but forget He has needs of me.
In the stillness, when we pray in meditation, that’s when He always speaks. Love to all of you as we press on towards the goal. We are doing a great work for Christ through this ministry. Love, Annette

  8. I really enjoyed watching NolaJeanne and her style of leading a class. The warm-up was quite a different approach and very gentle. It’s given me some good ideas for my “modified” class that consists primarily of people with limited mobility. I’m amazed at all of the scripture she has memorized! I definitely need to work on that! Thanks for sharing this!

  9. I dare say, CPI’s also get to experience the joy of worship leading! I haven’t yet found it awkward speaking the scriptures, but I do know that the secret to leading others in worship is doing it ourselves!

  10. Bless God forevermore! What a friend we have in Jesus! I was meditating today on how beautiful, and amazing it is that God loves us, and how privileged I am to be loved by Him. Nola Jeanne, what beauty and grace you have in your movement. I feel incredibly blessed and hugged by God!! Jesus is just amazing – wonderful Counsellor, Almighty God!

    1. I believe that’s covered in the Manual, Esse. In postures such as Tallit (The Prayer Shawl) or The Scroll, we may not have students repeat after us.

  11. Me again 🙂

Just finished the interview with Susan Pope and just want to fall to my knees at how blessed we are to do “bible study through our bodies”.
There are just no words to describe the gratitude to God for birthing this in you and the overflow of it through us. HE does not need us, but how priviledged are we that HE allows us to be apart of HIS work.
Thank you so much again, and especially for your obedience, faithfullness and LOVE
    Keenan

  12. Susan, Thank you for your story. I have been blessed with a praise dance ministry as a reminder of what God removes from our life and what He gives back in returns. I have never had a dance class, so the moves are totally Spirit directed. I will be purchasing your book, and look forward to blogging with you through PraiseMoves.
Laurette and NolaJeanne, Thank you for following Godly direction and the impact you are making in peoples lives. I look forward to my completion and the opportunities He has planned for me.

  13. Another AMAZING session! I’m almost sad it’s coming to a close. Nolajeanne! I wish I could have seen this segment BEFORE I submitted my video today! You have inspired me to continue practicing our postures to excellence for the glory of God! What a pleasure and a blessing to watch, thank you. Susan Pope’s testimony and application of how PraiseMoves has transformed her life and the lives she has touched was a blessing to me. It makes me want to quit my “day job” and pursue promoting and teaching classes again. I KNOW the Lord is preparing me to do so for His good pleasure to teach in His perfect timing. Thank you Laurette, Nolajeanne and Susan!

    1. YOU are a major blessing to us, Teri. Thank you so much for letting us know. Yes, the Lord is preparing you – always more than we can ask or think — so I make sure I ask and think BIG a lot! We love you mightily, Laurette.

  14. I have to say I am so encouraged everytime I come to the sessions and return to them frequently. Thank you NolaJeanne, your posture videos look so very simple and remind me constantly not to over think.

I then go back and tell myself “Don’t over think, just over give it to the Lord.:)”

    Keep Smilin’

    Blessings.

  15. I am so blessed by all of these sessions!! Theres alot of good ideas from NolaJeanne today as to opportunities to promote PM. And I enjoyed the interview with Susan Pope. she is truly anointed and called to dance. I have given her book to several of my friends. It just fits in so nicely with PM!

  16. What a blessing this session was to me! Being able to move along with Nola Jeanne was WONDERFUL! I often had to STOP the video though and take notes. She is such an inspired teacher!! I’m so eager to incorporate the Beautiful Feet session and use the low-impact WWW for my students. I like a softer (kinder-gentler) WWW. As much as I want to be up and moving and bopping with great up-beat music there is still something so so powerful about the slower but very thorough stretching and strengthening that Nola Jeanne shows us. Hallelujah!

  17. Thank you NolaJeanne what an inspiration you are and so adorable to listen too. I am really loving this PraiseMoves journey with you and Laurette. Thank you for all the amazing tips and advice.
    This is really helpful.

  18. Thank you so much Nola Jeanne, you are a true blessing.
I cant wait to try Beautiful feet. This has been another Amazing training
