PraiseWaves (Aqua PraiseMoves) is a gentle, new way to “Transform your Workout into Worship” in the aquatics environment!
Combining Scripture with activated static & dynamic stretching in the ebb and flow of the water, PraiseWaves provides an enjoyable, physical experience as well as peaceful, mental relaxation through the peace of Christ and the encouragement of His Word.
Aquatics for Everyone!
Aquatics workouts can provide a safer way for many people to exercise, especially those with limited mobility, weight problems, joint pain, or other injuries that make weight bearing exercises difficult or impossible.
Exercising in water can increase fitness and muscle tone, but it's also a good option for anyone recovering from an injury, or who is nervous about sustaining one, as well as for less fit folks who are looking for a gentle way to start an exercise program.
Healing Properties of Water
In Ezekiel 47:7-9, this passage of Scripture describes the healing waters that flow from the sanctuary.
The healing properties of water facilitate a protective environment that reduces strain on the body, using the natural resistance of the water to strengthen and tone muscles, and the fluidity of the water assists in improving range of motion, flexibility, and relaxing, creative movement.
Water exercise is especially beneficial because overall body training and toning.
The buoyant properties of the water help to support the body, easing wear and tear on the joints.
In addition, Hydrostatic pressure in water provides compression on the body and capillaries, assisting in venous flow return, thus decreasing swelling and water retention. This compression provides natural relief to sites of injury by decreasing pain and providing added support.
What happens in a PraiseWaves Class?
A PraiseWaves Class will incorporate many of the familiar elements of PraiseMoves while capitalizing on the physical properties of water to add a new dimension of promoting flexibility and strength
A typical PraiseWaves Class will include:
- A minute of Prayer – Just as is done in PraiseMoves, we start with prayer.
- 10 – 20 minutes of Wading-Wisdom-Warm-ups – Continue with gentle water warm up movements and aerobic activity.
- 20 – 30 minutes of Postures PraiseMoves postures and aquatic modified postures, include Scriptures.
- 5 minutes of Scripture Sequences or Personal Expression of Praise – During this segment, flow postures or movements to a passage of Scripture such as Psalm 23 or the Lord's Prayer.
- 5-10 minutes WWJD Meditation – The class concludes with final cool down and meditation and prayer utilizing Scripture and theme delivered throughout the workout.
