21 Days of Fasting - We have Dominion?

DAY FIFTEEN: “Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth'” (Genesis 1:28).

Wow – did you see the five-fold blessing of multiplication the Lord spoke forth in Genesis 1:28?

God is calling us to:

  1. Be fruitful
  2. Multiply
  3. Fill the earth
  4. Subdue it
  5. Have dominion

“But I’m just one person,” you may say. “How can I do all that?” Did you notice that the verse begins with “Then God blessed them”?

If God had not already given them the ability by His grace (God’s willingness to use His power and ability on our behalf) and blessed them (empowering them to prosper and break through to success), it would have been nigh impossible for them to fulfill His decree.

Although this was before Adam sold out to the enemy causing the fall of mankind, through Jesus we have regained dominion and authority. In fact, in Luke 10:19, Jesus said, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

What areas of your life is the Lord calling you to take dominion? Write them in your journal.

  1. Be fruitful (productive, successful) —
  2. Multiply (grow, increase) —
  3. Fill the earth (enlarge your territory and influence) —
  4. Subdue it (conquer and overcome something) —
  5. Have dominion (power and supreme control under the Lordship of Jesus Christ) —

Say with me today, “The Lord has given me dominion and authority in Jesus’ name!”

  1. I love this time of fasting together. It has caused me to become more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and His Perfect Will for my life. My hearts’ desire is to please Him in everything I do and say, that my life will be an example of His Glory, Goodness and Grace & Mercy!
Love, Miracles and blessings to all my sisters and brothers in the Faith and PraiseMoves family!!

  2. Laurette and Nola,

My husband and I have been fasting from day 1. For me clarity and truly TRUSTING IN THE LORD, has really had a profound impact on me. I am leaving it all at the the altar and not taking the things I can’t control back. I have had doors closed, but have faith and trust that another will open for me. Also I am working on bearing the fruits of the spirit, and asking God to relieve me and help me with a couple of them which I lack. I love God more than I love what I am fasting, which brings the flesh pleasure. Therefore, it has not been to difficult!
    God Bless you all.

    1. That’s powerful, Pam: “I love God more than I love what I am fasting, which brings the flesh pleasure.” That is at the heart of God’s desire I believe for our fasting–and it is not an easy thing to do; we have to lean on Him. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
